Behind the Story:
Breathe, Little Lion

A Tribute to the First Teacher We Ever Know

Breathe, Little Lion is more than a children’s book—it’s a love letter to the fierce, tender lessons we carry from the people who raised us, especially our mothers.

This story is a tribute to Anthony Robinson’s mother, who passed away while he was completing his master’s degree in social work. Her loss was profound, but so was her impact. She was Anthony’s first teacher—the one who modeled compassion, independence, and the quiet strength of pouring into children and family with unwavering love.

She was outspoken and full of fire, known for sharing vivid stories about her life growing up in a big family in a small Southern town. Her roots ran deep, and so did her spirit. Living in a multigenerational home, she was shaped by the steady presence of her grandmother, Jeanette, whose wisdom helped guide her through life’s harder edges. From Jeanette, she learned how to balance strong will with grace, and how to channel fierce emotions into purpose, not chaos.

These generational lessons—on voice, emotion, resilience, and belonging—became the foundation of Anthony’s own life and work. They also shaped the heart of Breathe, Little Lion. Through the story of a brave little cub learning to find calm and courage, Anthony shares the tools his mother gave him and honors the emotional legacy she passed down.

This book is a reminder that the lessons we learn in childhood echo for a lifetime. It is a tribute to the women who came before us, the families who raise us, and the breath we take when we choose to respond, not react.

Because love teaches us. And it breathes through us, long after the voices go quiet.

Behind the Story:
Lucas and the Last Dinosaur

A Tribute to Love, Loss, and Legacy

Lucas and the Last Dinosaur is more than just a children’s story—it’s a reflection of real-life healing, friendship, and the enduring power of love.

Years ago, while navigating the emotional weight of graduate school and grieving the sudden loss of his mother, author Anthony Robinson was working as a social worker on a medical trauma unit. It was an environment filled with urgency, quiet heartbreak, and resilience—and it was there that he met Nicole, a fellow social worker whose openness became an unexpected gift.

Nicole didn’t hesitate to share her own story of loss. She, too, had lost a parent who meant the world to her: her father, Roberto.

Through long conversations, shared memories, and quiet moments between patients, Anthony and Nicole found a space where grief could be spoken—and where healing could begin. Her willingness to name her pain and reflect on the meaning of family gave Anthony something he didn’t realize he needed: connection, understanding, and a sense of community in the midst of his own sorrow.

Years later, Anthony feels deeply honored to witness Nicole in a new chapter—as a mother. Watching her become a fierce, loving protector to her son, Lucas, has been a full-circle moment. Lucas carries not just the name of his grandfather, but a legacy of love, strength, and storytelling.

This book is Anthony’s way of honoring that journey—of naming the ways love lives on, even after loss. It’s a gentle reminder to help the helper, to see those who care for others, and to nurture the bonds that carry us forward.

Because love doesn’t disappear—it transforms. It roars in our hearts. It lives on in the stories we share.
